Robert Talbott Inc. began in 1950 when Robert and Audrey arrived in Carmel from a successful life in New York City and Connecticut. Bringing with them a sense of tradition and an understanding of the power of quality.

Since his days at HarvardBusinessSchool in the early 1930’s, the greatest desire of Robert Talbott was to manufacture something special. Audrey was already doing that. Sewing one of a kind bow ties for Robert Talbott and their friends. The next step was inevitable: creating a highly personal company to make quality ties for a select group of men. The business grew slowly but by 1955 The Robert Talbott Company was traveling to Europe and Asia in search of the finest silk mills to weave their designs for Robert Talbott ties and Robert Talbott shirts.

In 1958 Audrey directed the opening of the first Robert Talbott Shop in CarmelCalifornia. Followed by the shop featuring Robert Talbott shirts and ties at PebbleBeach in 1968. Their long time dream came to reality when they launched the Robert Talbott show case shop on New York’s Madison Avenue in 1992. The introduction in 2001 of a company store offering Robert Talbott ties and shirts to Highland ParkVillage in Dallas, Texas completed a successful retail vision.

Like the company itself, the products grew slowly but steadily out of the Talbott’s commitment to the finest fabrics and design, which evolved into the “Best of Class” collection of Robert Talbott ties. Followed by the luxurious seven-fold ties in 1986; Robert Talbott shirts in 1990 paved the way for sport shirts in 2000. Most recent additions are cufflinks, shearling and leather, and belts. All products still maintain the same superior quality demanded by the Robert Talbott Company.
